Due to Malaga's location, Malaga inherited a diverse culture with many nationalities and with that, a great variety of cuisine is on offer throughout Malaga. There is a great variety of restaurants along the sea front promenade between the Paseo Maritimo Antonio Machada and the Avenida Pintor Sorolla. They are of the highest standard that will leave you breathless. Try the Sal Gorda Seafood in the Malagueta, or the Basque cuisine in the 7 de Julio. The Italian pasta is great at the Tommasino and also at the Commendatore. From some great Mexican food, try the mariachis and the enchilades at the Nachos Tex -Mex. For some great Ox chops or even tender lamb chops, try the Madre de la Cordero. The Conde Ansurez offers great paella and a nice delicatessen. Around the area of Cerrado de Calderon, there is a really famous restaurant called Bodegun de Gurpegui, which is set in its original style and decor and its cooking is only outstanding, One can drive around the surrounding countryside of Malaga but keep off the local wine of the Montes, as it is quite strong. Places to sample the great local wines around the Montes de Malaga are at Venta Nueva and at the Olivos. Take a small detour off the main road where you will come to the Mirador, which is considered one of the best places for lunch in Malaga. If you want a place to bring all the children, then head for the T nel, which is family orientated. Their famous dish is a combination of chicken paella and seafood that has been known to have raised the dead. Make sure you head down to the seaside neighbourhood of Huelin, where you will find some great restaurants that are world famous for their seafood. The Mario Eva serves out prawns and fried fish that is only delicious. Dos Erres is very famous for its fried fish, while Santa Paula specialises in shellfish and finas. The Pedregalejo and the El Palo are next to the sea and have lovely views. The Tintero will serve you up some love fresh anchovies, and the Cobertizo restaurant will usually have red mullet and calamari on its menu. |
